The XL600LM was Honda's Paris-Dakar look-alike for the road: the RFVC four-valve single in red, a huge 28-litre tank, twin headlamps under a small fairing and works-style colours, all on a square-tube frame and swingarm with tubeless tyres. Unlike the kick-only XL600R it came with an electric starter as well as a kick lever, a direct answer to Yamaha's XT600 Tenere. Despite the extra equipment it never became a strong seller.
